About the Foundation
Mission: The Veterans Next Step Foundation helps Halifax, MA Veterans take the next, right step with direct aid for essential needs, mental health guidance, and a growing network of trusted community partners - starting locally and expanding throughout rural Massachusetts and beyond to ensure no Veteran is left behind.
Founded in February 2025 by Steve Littlefield, a 26-year Army Combat Veteran with deployments to Iraq in 2004-05 and Afghanistan in 2010, the Veterans Next Step Foundation was born from the simple idea that Veterans deserve real, direct, and meaningful support. What started as a family commitment to give back has grown into a non-profit dedicated to uplifting veterans in Halifax and eventually beyond - especially in more rural areas where the big-city organizations and promises rarely materialize into actual help.
We’re here to be a hub—connecting those who want to serve with the veterans who need it most, whether through donations, volunteer efforts, or hands-on help.
Our mission is to empower veterans with the next steps in their lives, free from bureaucracy and full of possibility. We provide mental health guidance and support to help veterans navigate life’s challenges and reduce Veteran suicide, "no red tape" direct assistance to meet immediate needs, and expanding network of trusted professionals to rely on, and many more ideas looking to the future. At Veterans Next Step, we’re building a community where veterans find the resources they need and the respect they’ve earned, one step at a time.
